De Bootstrap Plot werkt als volgt: x-aantal keer wordt het gemiddelde berekend; de computer neemt er observaties uit en berekent opnieuw het gemiddelde; de computer legt de observaties terug, neemt er een ander uit en berekent het gemiddelde; observaties kunnen meerdere keren eruit worden gehaald.

Hoe groter de spreiding, hoe minder nauwkeurig het gemiddelde. Om de 'beste' schatting eruit te halen moet je een keuze maken.
- mean -> de spreiding is groter maar als je naast de mean zit, blijft het nog binnen de perken
- midrange -> de spreiding is veel kleiner maar als je naast de midrange zit, heb je snel het gemiddelde van de outliers
