We zien dat de midrange de kleinste inkepingen heeft. Dit wijst op een kleine spreiding. (De mediaan kan dus niet hard fluctueren). Het gemiddelde heeft wel een grotere spreiding maar de betrouwbaarheid is hier groter. Je moet dus kiezen ofwel kies je voor een grote betrouwbaarheid of voor de kleine spreiding.
Meestal neemt men het rekenkundig gemiddelde.
