De student heeft enkel het verband tussen twee tijdreeksen onderzocht namelijk werkloosheid en de handelsbalans. De conclusie die hij hierbij getrokken heeft is niet correct. De correlatie tussen de twee tijdreeksen bedraagt 0,58. Dit wijst op een sterk verband. De student zou best ook negatieve waarden proberen weg te werken.
