Deze opgave illustreert het opgooien van een muntstuk. In principe is de kans 50/50 dat we kop of munt werpen. De eerste grafiek ‘Excess of heads’ toont ons het overschot aan ‘kop’ dat er gegooid is. Indien er telkens om beurt eerst een kop en daarna munt gegooid zou worden, zou deze grafiek een horizontaal verloop met een minimale spreiding vertonen. Dit is echter zeer onwaarschijnlijk en daarom krijgen we zeer “random” grafieken, die bij dezelfde berekening een ander verloop hebben. De tweede grafiek ‘proportion of heads’ geeft het proportioneel aantal keren weer dat er kop gegooid werd. Deze grafiek toont ons wel hoeveel keer er kop of munt gegooid werd, maar niet in welke volgorde.
