Er wordt geen uitleg gegeven. Bij hierarchical clustering tekent men een dendrogram. Hierinis het zo dat de tijdreeks telkens wordt opgesplitst zodat er telkens kleine clusters ontstaan. Hier kan men uit afleiden welke observaties 'bij elkaar horen'. Het dendrogram wordt louter exploratief gebruikt.

De dendogram laat ons zien of in de periodes groepen worden gemaakt die op elkaar lijken. De tijdreesken worden opgesplitst in takken.

Er werd geen uitleg gegeven over hierarchical clustering.
Hierbij worden de tijdreeksen opgesplitst in gelijksoortige groepen.
