De verbanden worden niet per se sterker, zoals je stelt in je antwoord.

Het effect van de 3de reeks wordt gewoonweg buiten beschouwing gelaten, waardoor deze 3de reeks de correlatie tussen de 2 onderzochte reeksen niet kan beïnvloeden. Als de partiele correlatie dus afwijkt van de normale correlatie dan weet je dat de 3de reeks een effect heeft op het verband tussen de 2 andere. De partiele correlatie geeft je dus een beter beeld van de werkelijke correlatie tussen de 2 reeksen.
