Hier zien we de particial correlation. Dit wil zeggen dat het de invloeden meet van een derde variabele tijdreeks op de andere twee variabelen. Dit laat zien hoe de correlatie is als je die derde variabele eruitlaat. Zo kan er door de invloed van een derde variabele lijken alsof er een goede correlatie en samenhang is tussen de reeksen maar eigenlijk hebben deze reeksen niets met elkaar te maken. Hier zien we dat als we naar de correlatie van y en z kijken een goede positieve correlatie en als x erbij komt word dit een zeer negatieve correlatie. X heeft dus zeer veel invloed op de correlatie van de tijdreeksen.
