Ik ben het met de student eens dat de spreiding niets te maken heeft met het al dan niet significant hoger liggen van de mediaan. Het zijn inderdaad (zoals de student zegt) de notches die aanduiden of dat het significant van elkaar verschilt. Hier overlappen de inkepingen elkaar niet. Dus is er geen sprake van toeval, het verschil is significant.

Het is inderdaad van belang te kijken of de betrouwbaarheidsintervallen elkaar niet overlappen.
Als ze elkaar niet overlappen kan men met 95% zekerheid zeggen dat het niet om toeval gaat.Ik denk dat dit wel bedoelt werd, maar niet duidelijk werd opgeschreven.
En inderdaad de spreiding heeft hier niet zoveel belang.

Ik denk dat de student het juist bedoelt, maar hij heeft de totale productie omgedraaid met de kledingproductie.

Je moet inderdaad rekening houden met de betrouwbaarheidsintervallen van de notched boxplot

Het gegeven antwoordt is volledig correct omdat er wordt gezegd dat als de inkepingen niet overlappen dat dit betekent dat de medianen niet toevallig overlappen. Hier overlappen de inkepingen elkaar niet dit kunnen we zeer duidelijk vaststellen aan de hand van de tekenng.
De kledingproductie is achteruitgegaan dit zien we aan de hand van de medianen. Spreiding is hier niet van belang
