De conclusie van de student is correct. We gebruiken de logaritmen dus met andere woorden om het effect van de outliers te verminderen.
Let wel dat je nooit de logaritmen van negatieve getallen gaat berekenen !
Als je dit doet krijg je een foutmelding en telt dat getal niet meer mee. Om dit aan te tonen heb ik alle gegevens van de investeringen van de kleding, negatief gemaakt (wat natuurlijk louter ter voorbeeld en niet realistisch is).

Nu zie je dat er voor de investeringen van de kleding helemaal geen boxplot meer is. Dit komt om dat voor al deze negatieve waarden, geen logaritmen bestaan en dus ook niet weergegeven kunnen worden.
