Door 5 procent van allebei de staarten af te knippen, vallen de outliers weg. Hierdoor is de tijdreeks af van de extreme waarden, en is deze meer uitgebalanceerd (dit zie je ook aan het gemiddelde).
Hierdoor kan je veel betrouwbaarder uitspraken doen ivm deze tijdreeks.

We zien hier inderdaad duidelijk dat als we in de R-code de juiste wijziging aanbrengen in verband met de quantiles, dat er een verschil is met de grafieken ten opzichte van de grafieken bij vraag Q2 en Q3. Dit kunnen we verklaren omdat we door onze aanpassing in de R-code, de outliers uit onze tijdreeks hebben gehaald. De outliers beinvloeden deze tijdreeks met andere woorden.

De student heeft de grafieken juist gereproduceerd. Hij had in zijn antwoord nog kunnen vermelden dat de extreme waarden vervallen.
