Het gaat hier over een muntstuk dat opgeworpen wordt. Er is dus in theorie 50% kans om kop en 50% kans om munt te gooien (bij een onvervalste munt).

De grafiek “Excess of heads” toont het “overschot” aan kop dat er gegooid wordt. Indien er telkens om beurt eerst kop en daarna munt gegooid wordt, zou deze grafiek een horizontaal verloop met een minimale spreiding vertonen. Dit is echter zeer onwaarschijnlijk en daarom krijgen we zeer “random” grafieken, die bij dezelfde berekening een ander verloop hebben. Vanuit de grafiek bij deze berekening zien we dat er meer munt gegooid wordt dan kop.

De grafiek eronder, het proportioneel aantal keren dat er kop gegooid wordt, nadert wel 0.5 (50%) naarmate er meer keer gegooid wordt (wet van de grote getallen).

Hier is er geen sprake van seizoenaliteit.
